Accuity is the Official Registrar of ABA Routing Numbers
As Registrar of Routing Numbers for the American Bankers Association, Accuity is responsible for the assignment of routing numbers in accordance with the Routing Number Administrative Board Routing Number Policy. Applicant institutions are subject to eligibility criteria outlined in the Policy, and must qualify based on that criteria.
In order to apply for a routing number, a financial institution must submit the following to the Registrar:
- completed routing number application and agreement HTML format or MS Word Document
- preliminary, or final, charter approval from the chartering agency (State Banking Department, OCC, OTS or NCUA).
- The application fee is $425 if applying for the institution's first routing number, or $550 if applying for any additional routing number.
- The application takes approximately three weeks to process upon receipt of complete application. Incomplete information may delay processing.

To retire a routing number, an officer of the institution to which the number is assigned should complete the routing number retirement form or write a letter to the Registrar at Accuity providing the following information:
- routing number to be retired
- effective date
- active routing number that will replace the number to be retired
